Displaying an array of colors including blues, greens, oranges, reds, and yellows, the Male Fancy Guppy is peaceful and gets along with any fish that will not bother it. Also know as the "Million Fish" due to its fast reproductive characteristics, a female Guppy can store sperm for later reproduction. Typically double the size of the Male Fancy Guppy, the Female Guppy can produce 20 to 40 young every 4 to 6 weeks. As with other Livebearers, the males possess the modified anal fin (gonopodium) which enables the Guppies internal fertilization method. When pregnant, the Female will display a dark triangle between the anal and pelvic fins. Originating from weedy ditches of South America and Africa, most Guppies are commonly now tank reared.
